Patpong, one of the busiest districts in Bangkok, at night: advertising billboards flash and music blares out of the bars. People of the night, young prostitutes and their foreign clients, tourists and three-wheeler 'tuk tuk' drivers work the pavements. Mobile food stalls and bars sell tempting snacks at every street corner. San Supathanakun's wares are particularly popular: on her cart, she has placed little iron bowls brimming with deep fried grasshoppers and beetles, ant salads, and little plastic bags full of white silkworms and crunchy black scorpions. These insect snacks are increasingly popular in Thailand.
