PEKIN EXPRESS - LA ROUTE DES INCAS

For this third series, Pékin Express has changed continent by bringing 10 teams to the very heart of South America, where they'll be discovering new countries, new situations and new challenges on the mysterious Inca Trail. Ten new teams each comprised of two people will be heading off into the unknown and trying to cross the continent from the Atlantic to the Pacific with a budget of just one euro per person per day. This incredible race will take them from Rio de Janeiro to Lima, across the vast landscapes of Brazil to the high plateaus of Bolivia, passing via the legendary city of the Incas in Peru: Machu Picchu. At the end of this exciting adventure, only two teams will be able to participate in the grand final in Lima, where they can try their hand at winning the ?100,000 prize.

A programme presented by Stéphane Rotenberg.

Episode 3: From Diamantina to Rio Verde

For this third stage, the teams head for Brasilia, Brazil's futuristic capital built out in the middle of nowhere just 50 years ago. After a rude awakening at dawn, the teams must get to Diamantina as quickly as possible, where a bonus awaits the first arrivals. Those who get to the airport first will be allowed to travel on to Brasilia by plane, giving them a massive advantage over the other teams, who will need to make their way to Brazil's economic capital under their own steam. After a highly original immunity trial (a race on the buses through Brasilia) Stéphane Rotenberg informs the team that a very special item awaits the first team to reach the Brazilian flag in the centre of the city. This is a red flag, which will entitle its holder to immobilise the team of his choice for 15 minutes at a time, as often as he wants. The first alliances are now beginning to form between some of the teams, and the first strategies are beginning to emerge. One of the leading teams makes a major mistake in route planning. But will this mistake prove fatal to their chances?

A programme presented by Stéphane Rotenberg.
