UN HOMME QUI CRIEThe film is set in modern day Chad. Adam is about sixty years old. A former swimming champion he now works as a lifeguard at a luxury hotel in N'Djamena. When the hotel is bought out by a Chinese company, he has to give up his job to his son, Abdel. He is very unhappy about this situation, which he considers as social decline. The background to the film is the civil war, with armed rebels threatening the authorities in power. In reaction to this situation the government calls on the population to make a "war effort", demanding money from them or a child old enough to fight. So Adam is hounded by his district chief to provide his contribution.
