L'un des théâtres les plus connus de la ville, le Market Theatre, a été créé ici, dans un immeuble qui abritait dans le temps le marché des fruits et légumes. Pendant l'apartheid, c'était un théâtre indépendant anti-raciste qui produisait les pièces de grands dramaturges comme Barney Simon, Athol Fugard, Zakes Mda, Mbongeni Ngema notamment.
