When I look at this photo, I think of a swimming pool. Smooth glass dissolving into cool water, a vertical lake that's taking over the city. Johannesburg has no river or lake to provide for its citizens. It is a dry, thirsty land, where water feels like a blessing. Even the reflections rippling upon the glass are the colour of water, framed by the blue and white bathroom tiles of the neighbouring building.
